Greg Fleming, NZ musician, a portrait

Friday, April 16th, 2010

Here’s a pic I took of New Zealand musician, Greg Fleming, back around 1990, in Auckland. The shot was taken at Rudolf Erb’s studio in Kitchener St on my Leica M2, with a 90mm f 2.8. Lighting was Visatec.

This is a copy off a 6×4 print. The original image was shot on colour neg.

Greg is currently re-releasing the first Greg Fleming and the Trains album, Ghosts Are White, and his lost album from the mid 90′s, Taken. There is a new album to come, recorded recently at Neil Finn’s Roundhead Studios in AK.

I formed the Trains with Greg in 1989, and played bass. I am really excited about the release of Ghosts Are White, which will have several great bonus tracks we recorded finally seeing the light of day.

I eagerly await Taken and the new album as well!!

Here is a shot of some of the artists from the Medium Artspace collective, Brunswick, VIC 3056. This was taken at our photo studio yesterday.

(left to right) front is Amiga the dog and Ivan Smith, second row is Frank Pearce and Rebecca Blunden, third row is Georgia Lucy and Casey Welsh, back row is Amos Duggan and Colby Cannon Welsh.

In terms of technical info I used three softboxes from the front, and one light for the background. Lights were Bron and Profoto.
